PEACEKEEPER PROFILE
Personality: Regis is selfless, kind, and born to rule; he embodies everything a king should be. In terms of stature and ideals, he outperforms his peers. He is the type of man who always looks to the future rather than dwelling on the past. He is a firm believer that a king must always move forward while accepting the consequences of his or her decisions. Regis is a fearless and stern king, but he is also a loving and concerned father. He is deeply saddened by the fate that awaits his son, Noctis, and feels guilty for being powerless to help him. Regis believes in his royal bloodline's strength, but he is still concerned about Noctis.
Despite what is known about Regis, he remains somewhat enigmatic, but he is well-liked by those who know him. While he rarely expresses his emotions, there are a few dents in his hard exterior. A king is a nation's pillar. He cannot be depicted otherwise because he is constantly scrutinized. Regis' public persona differs from his personal one. The king appears to be a strict authority figure, but in reality, he is much kinder. Regis is a likeable person with plenty of eloquence and persuasiveness. Regis has extensive political experience, which allows him to persuade others to support his agenda. He's frequently the type of person who values morality over short-term gain.
Regis' refusal to turn away the large number of migrants who entered Lucis after Galahd's fall is a stark example of this.
His son's safety is his first and foremost priority. Regis prioritizes his son's life above all else, and this is evident throughout the events of Kingsglaive. He openly betrays his kingdom to ensure that the prophecy is fulfilled, but he does so with a heavy heart. These opposing ideas create the image of a conflicted man. While he believes that a king should always consider the future, this does not absolve him of guilt. Regis holds himself responsible for the demise of Lucis and Tenebrae. He accepts responsibility for many of his decisions, hoping that future generations will forgive him in time. Regis would have accepted any other option for saving both Eos and Noctis.
While Noctis sometimes resents Regis' efforts, there's no denying that Regis is the most influential person in his son's life. Regis' love for Noctis is what ultimately defines him as a character, as he is one of the few positive father figures in the Final Fantasy series. Overall, Regis is a good man and father, but he, like all politicians, prioritizes his own interests.
Game Plan: Regis will take some time to adjust to the way things work in Amani, especially since he has been widowed for a long time. I just don't see Regis getting too comfortable in the simulation because his mind will always wander elsewhere. Regis has spent so much of his life fulfilling the Prophecy that he will struggle to adjust to his new normal as a regular person.
