[OPEN] EVENT.010
SNOW WAY OUT

[Maybe this little trip to Nevei Forest was just what Regis needed to help take the edge off. While the former monarch is still quite uneasy, the lush evergreen backdrop of this lovely forest is more than enough to lift his spirits. It's much better than tolling away in the awful snow back within the city. News of this lush destination came to him in the form of an advertisement he seen on his phone. It didn't take much for Regis to pitch the idea to Noctis and the others, especially Cor.

Most Lucians are quite averse to snow after all.

Nevertheless, Regis decides to rent out a room within one of the more rustic villas in the resort. The architecture here is quite a far cry from his days in Insomnia but the villa is still quite fetching. He settles by the fireplace nursing what seems to be a cup of tea while dressed quite casually in a black shirt, dark slacks, and sleek black leather shoes. For this particular ensemble, Regis chose to wear his newly purchased off-gray waistcoat for that hint of formalness.

Even though he's no longer a king, Regis is still royal. He can't exactly get away with just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, unlike his son.

The lack of room service at this villa is a bit of nuisance but Regis doesn't seem to mind all too much. His gaze drifts as he watches the slow trickle of tourists wandering about within the main hall. Eventually, he grows bored with people watching and starts searching for conversation. Despite his grim expression, Regis is quite sociable.
]

Enjoying yourself?

[He questions a random passerby with a pleasant smile.]

Firialia Eve Ball

[The expression upon Regis's face is cross in between absolute rage and devastation. Who would've guessed that Regis would suddenly be transformed into a fairy during the middle of the performance? Certainly not Regis but that's beside the point. The former King of Lucis cannot help but huff indignantly at his current state. Had he not been reduced in stature to that of a fairy, he would've been relatively fine with the thought of sporting a colorful pair of translucent fairy wings and elfin-like ears. However, Regis wasn't so fortunate and is now at the mercy of the giggling guests surrounding him.

He gives them a frigid stare that is colder than Shiva's teet while idly fixing the cuffs of his handsomely elaborate suit. Regardless of his fairy-like form, Regis still looks very much like a king. He's just tiny and adorable right now much to his displeasure. While he does his best not to look bothered, Regis is considering how flustered he looks.
]

This is not quite how I thought I would enjoy my evening.

[He grumbles under his breath while wishing he could have a cocktail.]

AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

[A wistful look settles within Regis's gaze as he watches others enjoy themselves at the ice-skating rink. While he's a little too old in his years to enjoy such festivities anymore, Regis certainly possesses some fond memories of his youth. He was never particularly good at ice-skating but Aulea was. His late wife was as graceful as the wind despite her razor-sharp tongue and even sharper wit. He cannot help but think of her as he watches the other patrons on the ice. Regis spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd. No one particularly noteworthy but many of them where guests who joined the ball the other night.

He's back to normal size again, folks! It seems that horrid fairy dust finally is worn but how?

Regis certainly won't say how anyone on the savvy might be able to figure out in two guesses. Still, Regis is quite relieved to be back to normal size today despite his forlorn expression. He's a less decadent in style unlike last night choosing to wear an all-black ensemble with a dark wool coat with a slight militaristic flair. The old king lingers by the ice skating rink lost within his fond memories.

[ Once they're both upright, Regis decides to lead into the next dance. A king is always meant to lead but right now he's not the king. If anything, he's simply the playful old gentleman with the fatherly smile. ]

Despite our archaic culture, Lucis had a task force similar to your law enforcement.

[ Several, actually. You have the Kingsglaive, the Crownsguard, the Royal Military and then local law enforcement that protected the local principalities. Lucis was mostly a peaceful country but they certainly had their own problems without the aid of Niffelhiem terrorizing them. ]

Terrorism? [ While Regis may have noticed her hesitancy, he cannot help but bristle a little at the word. ] What a dreadful thought. I hope all is well in your homeland, Miss Brea.

The creatures you speak of sound eerily similar to the daemons that haunt the outskirts of the royal capital.

Some people may well consider them demons.

[ and, despite the neo-mitochondrial creatures decidedly organic origins, she sometimes can't help but feel that they might be her own personal hell.

she gives a thin smile, appreciating the concern all the same. ]

It is. It was the work of one man [ a woman, actually, ] who meddled with things he shouldn't have to create the creatures - the NMCs, we call them. Catching them was difficult, at first; they seem to only need to come into contact with other living things to infect them as well.

But we are finally putting their numbers down, after all this work.

[ until dryfield. until neo-ark... but that's her problem, not regis'.

of course, once the nmcs are gone, the only monster left will be aya herself. ]

All of this suffering caused by the untempered will of one man.

[ He mutters under his breath with a hint of disgust and annoyance. Aya’s sounds eerily similar to his own in regards to these beasts being man made. While the truth about the Starscrouge that plagues his world is unbeknown to him, Regis suspects the origin’s of this plague deals with the meteor that fell during the Age of the Gods. It’s a disease that has existed since antiquity but when the Empire started cultivating the virus to suit their needs, that’s when all broke loose. The Gods been fighting against this virus for more than a millennia but it took the fickle whim of humankind to make it worse. ]

The virus that plagues your realm sounds too similar to the evil that spreads within mine. [ Regis admits with a bit of a sigh. ] No one knows of the Starscrouge’s true origins but I know mankind tried to wield such a virus as weapon.

[ His thoughts momentarily turn dark as he thinks of Aldercapt but he does well to keep his grim thoughts off his face. To Aya, he’ll just look as if he’s lost in thought and nothing more. ]

It seems that your world has you to thank for such progress made against the blight.

[ He grins at her for a moment, his glee reaching his gaze.]

You deserve a medal and many riches for your servitude. I hope you receive them and more.

[ she's glad they're dancing, as it gives her a chance to duck her head, seemingly to hide a flush from flattery - but really from guilt. it wasn't klamp, as much as he had assisted eve. the wanton destruction she otherwise caused was all her own, and the new creatures were wrought from aya's own blood. she feels as responsible for it as the other two.

being praised doesn't sit right for her for that. but that, at least, she can play off, raising her head again to give a little smile. ]

Honestly, I would just be happy for the world to never know that they needed to be protected. Some secrets are meant to be as such. It's the sacrifice we make.

It's the sacrifices we make.

[That comment resonates with Regis more than he's willing to admit. He gives Aya a faint smile as the dance comes to a slow end. It seems that the orchestra might be in intermission for the moment giving them the chance necessary to take a break. Regis is feeling oddly proud of being able to keep up with Aya. Even though the Crystal stole his youth, it hasn't stolen his love for dancing.]

Your humility speaks volumes, Miss Brea. If I may dare say, it's quite refreshing.

[There's so much he wants to discuss with her but Regis fears he might be eating up all her time. After all, he doubts this stunning woman ventured to the ball without a date.]

Could a tempt you with a glass of chardonnay?
[personal profile] emergence on January 6th, 2020 09:45 pm (UTC)
[ she did come with a partner, but he's occupying himself at the moment. regis has aya's full attention, and she grins a bit more when he mentions humility. it's not humility, but she'll take the compliment for the moment. ]

You'd hardly need the chardonnay to tempt me.

[ it's definitely a light flirt in his direction, but she offers her hand again. ]

I'd be happy to share a bottle, though.
