[OPEN] EVENT.010
SNOW WAY OUT

[Maybe this little trip to Nevei Forest was just what Regis needed to help take the edge off. While the former monarch is still quite uneasy, the lush evergreen backdrop of this lovely forest is more than enough to lift his spirits. It's much better than tolling away in the awful snow back within the city. News of this lush destination came to him in the form of an advertisement he seen on his phone. It didn't take much for Regis to pitch the idea to Noctis and the others, especially Cor.

Most Lucians are quite averse to snow after all.

Nevertheless, Regis decides to rent out a room within one of the more rustic villas in the resort. The architecture here is quite a far cry from his days in Insomnia but the villa is still quite fetching. He settles by the fireplace nursing what seems to be a cup of tea while dressed quite casually in a black shirt, dark slacks, and sleek black leather shoes. For this particular ensemble, Regis chose to wear his newly purchased off-gray waistcoat for that hint of formalness.

Even though he's no longer a king, Regis is still royal. He can't exactly get away with just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, unlike his son.

The lack of room service at this villa is a bit of nuisance but Regis doesn't seem to mind all too much. His gaze drifts as he watches the slow trickle of tourists wandering about within the main hall. Eventually, he grows bored with people watching and starts searching for conversation. Despite his grim expression, Regis is quite sociable.
]

Enjoying yourself?

[He questions a random passerby with a pleasant smile.]

Firialia Eve Ball

[The expression upon Regis's face is cross in between absolute rage and devastation. Who would've guessed that Regis would suddenly be transformed into a fairy during the middle of the performance? Certainly not Regis but that's beside the point. The former King of Lucis cannot help but huff indignantly at his current state. Had he not been reduced in stature to that of a fairy, he would've been relatively fine with the thought of sporting a colorful pair of translucent fairy wings and elfin-like ears. However, Regis wasn't so fortunate and is now at the mercy of the giggling guests surrounding him.

He gives them a frigid stare that is colder than Shiva's teet while idly fixing the cuffs of his handsomely elaborate suit. Regardless of his fairy-like form, Regis still looks very much like a king. He's just tiny and adorable right now much to his displeasure. While he does his best not to look bothered, Regis is considering how flustered he looks.
]

This is not quite how I thought I would enjoy my evening.

[He grumbles under his breath while wishing he could have a cocktail.]

AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

[A wistful look settles within Regis's gaze as he watches others enjoy themselves at the ice-skating rink. While he's a little too old in his years to enjoy such festivities anymore, Regis certainly possesses some fond memories of his youth. He was never particularly good at ice-skating but Aulea was. His late wife was as graceful as the wind despite her razor-sharp tongue and even sharper wit. He cannot help but think of her as he watches the other patrons on the ice. Regis spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd. No one particularly noteworthy but many of them where guests who joined the ball the other night.

He's back to normal size again, folks! It seems that horrid fairy dust finally is worn but how?

Regis certainly won't say how anyone on the savvy might be able to figure out in two guesses. Still, Regis is quite relieved to be back to normal size today despite his forlorn expression. He's a less decadent in style unlike last night choosing to wear an all-black ensemble with a dark wool coat with a slight militaristic flair. The old king lingers by the ice skating rink lost within his fond memories.

[He'd managed to avoid the fairy ordeal- more than a little overwhelmed by it, truthfully, coming from a place where magic was talked about in storybooks and not anything believed in reality. Lunatia as a whole had been quite the experience, even if space travel and foreign planets were more on the familiar side of things.]

Oh- I've spent more time these past few years behind a computer than on any ice, I don't think I'd impress anyone if I tried. Least of all myself.

[There's no real embarrassment behind the admission though, academics had always held more interest than anything athletic, were a far more important foundation to his becoming a Navigator.

Maybe here though... without a space ship to pilot and maintain he'd have to find some way to pass the already seemingly abundant time. Probably wouldn't hurt to learn a little defense either, given magic was apparently a thing now and he barely even knew how to fight.
]

Better to leave it to someone more experienced. It's not so bad, just watching.

I used to know someone who absolute adored ice-skating.

[A faint sigh escapes Regis as he peers back onto the ice. He couldn't help but smile when a group of children skates past. The littlest member of the group took a spill but the oldest child in their teens is quick to dust them off and get them upright. It's a heartwarming scene, one that reminds him briefly of his past. Aulea used to love ice-skating more than anyone, even himself. She was good at it too which is oddly fitting for a Crownsguard.]

She had better balance than I could ever hope for but that didn't stop her from dragging me out there.

[He chuckles lightly as he thinks of all the times he fell in the past. As much as he teases Noctis about his lack of poise, Regis was no better around that age.]

I dare say it's more fun watching than doing. [He states as he glances over at the youth again.] It's less dangerous and we're certainly won't make fools of ourselves.

[His grin grows a bit wider.]

I take it you're a fellow tourist from Lunatia.

[He'd simply let quiet settle between them, head turning to follow the other man's gaze back out towards the ice, assuming that Regis would continue his trail of thought eventually- and the warmth in his voice when he did pick back up was clear even though Abel knew next to nothing about him or the woman he spoke of.

Had his father ever spoken that way about his mother? It was nice to imagine he had but...

He did have some experience here though, memories of hands too small to do more than grasp onto a few his mother's fingers as she coaxed him out onto the ice. Rinks had been almost a novelty back home, a bit old fashioned, but even in his time it had been something they'd enjoyed every now and then.

Until he had become less malleable maybe, defiant in making his own decisions, in choosing the path that ran almost completely the opposite way of the one that was expected of him to walk. There hadn't been a lot of family outings that weren't drenched in obligation after that.
]

I'm sure we could still find ways to make fools of ourselves out here if we really tried.

[Another quip, shoulders rolling up in a shrug. He'd done a fair bit of that already in Lunatia and he hadn't even had to fall in front of a group of people to do it.]

And yeah, I guess I am. Arrived not long before the snowstorm... at least we can probably say things won't be boring here.

At least. [ Regis states with an airy sigh as he recalls the events at the ball. ] There's no shortage of surprise here in this world is there?

[ There's a hint of annoyance in his tone but it's not directed at the youth beside him. No, his frustration is directed primarily at Fate itself and all of its many guiding hands. Peace doesn't come easily to Regis. His mind is constant whirlwind of scattered thoughts and endless fretting but sometimes he gets a reprieve from it all. However, he fears this reprieve will end the second he returns to Lunatia. He's been so horribly disorganized since his arrival to this realm despite Cor’s best efforts.

Blame it on is slow ability to adapt to all the oddities here. Life within Prismatica is bound to be difficult.
]

Nevertheless, this beats having to face the fury of a fearsome snowstorm. Therefore, we cannot be but so picky.

[ Beggars cannot be choosers and all that. The old proverbs annoy Regis but more often than not, they always ring true. ]

You're a new arrival as well?

[ Regis chuckles a little as he thinks back on his less than grand arrival here. He's certain the guards have his face plastered somewhere in that facility after causing so much grief. ]

The hour of my arrival here was marred with much chaos. I believe I gave the guards quite a fright. [ He almost says that gleefully. ] I bet they never met such spry old man before.

[ He gives the youth another glance once he was certain that his smirk was gone. ]

If I may ask, where are you from?

hope your holidays went well!
Was that you? I heard the commotion and people were going in and out of the room I was in a lot but the doctors didn't really stop to explain much to me.

[About all he remembered from those first few days, really. The whole bleeding from his face thing had stopped after arrival at least, but he'd all but been dead on his feet even after being seen- and it wasn't until he'd arrived in the city and found Cain that he'd had any opportunity to rest and feel like a person again.

As much as one could, after learning about this place.

But if Regis was recounting the incident with amusement Abel supposed he didn't have to hide his own either, honestly a little surprised at finding the source of earlier upheaval. Not because of age, but his seemingly polite nature. Then again, if Abel had been in better health he probably wouldn't have hesitated to make a scene either, even missing the necessary magic or weaponry to make it really a show worth remembering.
]

I'm from Earth. Not that much different from this place actually, though I've never met anyone like the Prismals before, just other humans.

I had a wonderful time! Thank you so much
Indeed, it was. [There's a hint of smugness in his tone. Yes, this kindly old man gave those damn guards hell. They will think twice before getting all handsy with him.] Although, I shouldn't take such pride knowing that my reputation proceeds me now.

[This could certainly be both a good and bad scenario. Regis will have to mind his slight temper from here on out. The last thing he wants or needs is more unwarranted attention from the Prismals. His peculiar aptitude in the magical arts is something worth noting.]

So your world is similar to this one? [Excuse him if he sounds a bit surprised by that.] Then you're in luck since my realm is not quite as fantastical as Prismastica.

[Although, Eos isn't without its special brand of fantastical wonders and horrors.]

Lunatia reminds me too much of the Empire alone. [He admits with a hint of bitterness in his tone.] However, Nevei Forest certainly feels more like the outskirts of once fair Duscae.
