ＳＮＯＷ ＷＡＹ ＯＵＴ

[Maybe this little trip to Nevei Forest was just what Regis needed to help take the edge off. While the former monarch is still quite uneasy, the lush evergreen backdrop of this lovely forest is more than enough to lift his spirits. It's much better than tolling away in the awful snow back within the city. News of this lush destination came to him in the form of an advertisement he seen on his phone. It didn't take much for Regis to pitch the idea to Noctis and the others, especially Cor.

Most Lucians are quite averse to snow after all.

Nevertheless, Regis decides to rent out a room within one of the more rustic villas in the resort. The architecture here is quite a far cry from his days in Insomnia but the villa is still quite fetching. He settles by the fireplace nursing what seems to be a cup of tea while dressed quite casually in a black shirt, dark slacks, and sleek black leather shoes. For this particular ensemble, Regis chose to wear his newly purchased off-gray waistcoat for that hint of formalness.

Even though he's no longer a king, Regis is still royal. He can't exactly get away with just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, unlike his son.

The lack of room service at this villa is a bit of nuisance but Regis doesn't seem to mind all too much. His gaze drifts as he watches the slow trickle of tourists wandering about within the main hall. Eventually, he grows bored with people watching and starts searching for conversation. Despite his grim expression, Regis is quite sociable.]

Enjoying yourself?

[He questions a random passerby with a pleasant smile.]

Ｆｉｒｉａｌｉａ Ｅｖｅ Ｂａｌｌ

[The expression upon Regis's face is cross in between absolute rage and devastation. Who would've guessed that Regis would suddenly be transformed into a fairy during the middle of the performance? Certainly not Regis but that's beside the point. The former King of Lucis cannot help but huff indignantly at his current state. Had he not been reduced in stature to that of a fairy, he would've been relatively fine with the thought of sporting a colorful pair of translucent fairy wings and elfin-like ears. However, Regis wasn't so fortunate and is now at the mercy of the giggling guests surrounding him.

He gives them a frigid stare that is colder than Shiva's teet while idly fixing the cuffs of his handsomely elaborate suit. Regardless of his fairy-like form, Regis still looks very much like a king. He's just tiny and adorable right now much to his displeasure. While he does his best not to look bothered, Regis is considering how flustered he looks.]

This is not quite how I thought I would enjoy my evening.

[He grumbles under his breath while wishing he could have a cocktail.]

ＡＮＤ ＴＯ ＡＬＬ Ａ ＧＯＯＤ ＮＩＧＨＴ！

[A wistful look settles within Regis's gaze as he watches others enjoy themselves at the ice-skating rink. While he's a little too old in his years to enjoy such festivities anymore, Regis certainly possesses some fond memories of his youth. He was never particularly good at ice-skating but Aulea was. His late wife was as graceful as the wind despite her razor-sharp tongue and even sharper wit. He cannot help but think of her as he watches the other patrons on the ice. Regis spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd. No one particularly noteworthy but many of them where guests who joined the ball the other night.

He's back to normal size again, folks! It seems that horrid fairy dust finally is worn but how?

Regis certainly won't say how anyone on the savvy might be able to figure out in two guesses. Still, Regis is quite relieved to be back to normal size today despite his forlorn expression. He's a less decadent in style unlike last night choosing to wear an all-black ensemble with a dark wool coat with a slight militaristic flair. The old king lingers by the ice skating rink lost within his fond memories.]

ＷＩＬＤＣＡＲＤ

{feel free to make your own prompts!}

comments

He stands tall among his peers in both stature and ideals. He's the kind of man who always looks towards the future rather than lament over the past. He believes wholeheartedly that a king always pushes onward while accepting the consequences of all their decisions. As a king, Regis is utterly fearless and stern but as a father, he's quite loving and fretful. He's greatly saddened by the ill fate that awaits his son, Noctis, and feels guilty for being powerless to help him. Regis believes in the strength of his royal bloodline but still fears for Noctis all the same.

His son's safety is his first and primary priority. Regis puts his son's life above all others and this shows during the events of Kingsglaive. He outright betrays his kingdom just to ensure that the prophecy comes to pass but he does so with a heavy heart. These conflicting ideas paint the picture of a conflicted man. While he does believe a king should always look to the future, that doesn't mean he's not without guilt. Regis blames himself for the fall of Lucis and Tenebrae both. He takes the blame for many of his decisions and hopes that future generations will come to forgive him in due time. If there was another way to save all of Eos and Noctis both, Regis would've taken it. His devotion to his people is only second to his devotion to Noctis. Regis truly does love his son but he also wishes for Noctis to find his path in life after the fall of Lucis. While sometimes his efforts are met with some reluctance on Noctis's part, there's no doubt that Regis is the most influential person in his son's life. His love for Noctis is what ultimately defines Regis as a character since he's honestly one of the few positive paternal figures in the Final Fantasy series.

Despite all that's known about Regis, he remains somewhat enigmatic but he's quite beloved by those who knew him. While he doesn't wear his emotions often, sometimes there are little dents in his stony facade. A king is a nation's pillar. He cannot be shown otherwise since he's constantly under scrutiny. Regis's public persona differs from his personal. The king appears as a stern authority figure but deep down, he's much kinder. Regis a likable person, one who's not lacking in eloquence or persuasiveness. Thanks to all his years in the political arena, Regis is capable of swaying the judgment of others for his agenda. He's often the kind of person who would appeal to one's morals over momentary gains. A stark example of this is Regis's refusal to turn away the many migrants who entered Lucis's borders after the fall of Galahd.

Still, Regis is rather compassionate. He welcomes all to join the ranks of the Kingsglaive, eager to foster those who seek asylum within his kingdom. However, his eagerness to bolster his dwindling ranks with refugees was seen as dastardly by dissenters. It made it seem as if he’s willing to sacrifice the lives of the refugees from Galahd in order to protect his people. In hindsight, Regis's main focus is the welfare of his citizens but he also extends this focus towards anyone willing to bear arms against the Empire. Overall, Regis is truly a good man and father both but like all politicians, he looks out for his interests. It just so happens that his main interest rests in keeping his son safe and in turn rescuing their world from the Starscourge.

However, Regis has several notable flaws that almost contradicts everything known about him. His faith in the gods and their prophecy is nothing short of misguided. Never once does Regis seem to question or doubt the legitimacy of these prophecies. He seems far too complacent in abiding by Bahamut's wishes but in the same breath, what was Regis suppose to do? He was the sovereign of an entire nation and also a father. The strain of maintaining the Wall over Lucis through the power of the Crystal took a terrible toll on him throughout the years. By the time everything starts to unravel in Kingsglaive, Regis was tired. Having lost his wife prior to the events of the game and losing countless battles against the Empire, Regis knew his time had come. He does whatever is within his means to protect Noctis and his friends until his dying breath.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Armiger Arsenal. Regis used to wield the mystic arms of his ancestors in battle, much like his son Noctis. The royal arms, also known as the Armiger Arsenal, allowed for Regis to warp and teleport in combat giving him increased range and movement speed. It's also was capable of giving Regis a temporary increase in might in the form of summoning all thirteen arms together for a single collective strike. Each Armiger within the arsenal is represented by past Kings and Queens of the Lucis, and even Regis's own sword (The Sword of the Father) is amongst this list of mystical weaponry that ranges from a sword to tridents, to also crossbows and shields.

Here is a full list of the Armiger Arsenal here.

For the sake of reference, Regis lost the Sword of the Father during the fall of Insomnia. So that would be the only weapon missing from his arsenal currently. He can also store new weapons or items in the armiger, even mundane things such as a book or two as illustrated by how Noctis can store his fishing rods in there. Think of the armiger as something like another dimension within itself.

Elemental Magic. Much like his son, Regis is also capable of wielding magic as shown in the animated feature, Kingsglaive. Regis has a mastery over the four elements, earth, fire, lightning, and ice. He demonstrates his magical prowess against General Glauca several times within the film and also within the prologue game A King's Tale. He can freeze enemies in their place using ice spells and utterly burn or electrocute foes using others. It should be noted that Regis shares a stronger affinity to lightning/thunder and tends to use that form of magic often.

Magical Shields. In addition to his destructive spells, Regis is capable of forming a barrier around himself and others. This power he demonstrates in the film thanks to his covenant with the Crystal. Regis manages to protect the Royal City of Insomnia from the Imperial invasion using a magical paling that fed off his own life-force.

As long as he lived, the protective barrier remained. It isn't until after Regis's death the paling falls and his city is ravaged by the Niflheim's monsters. Literally no form of attack, magic or physical can pass through his shields. It's assumed by the Final Fantasy community that Regis's magic is loosely based upon the spell Mighty Guard that gives combatants momentary defense against all magical and melee attacks for a short period of time.

INVENTORY: Regis honestly doesn't possess much upon his person besides his kingly attire, his golden scepter, and ornate leg brace. However, he still has the silver horned circlet he wore as king

MOONBLESSING: Cordis

▶ SAMPLES

tdm sample #1
tdm sample#2

comments
